The rapid growth of Information and Communication Technology has changed in every sphere in day-to-day life. People are using new gadgets for an easy lifestyle. Libraries are not legging behind this. Now the libraries are going to digital. For that they are using new technology/equipment i.e. Computer, Scanner, Printer, Photocopier, Air Conditioner, etc. which have an impact using paper, ink, electricity on the environment. If the libraries adopt green practices/services, it will reduce the carbon footprint and build up environmentally sustainability. Green Library is the practice to minimize the negative impact on the environment and maximize the indoor environmental quality through site selection, reusing of construction material, and biodegradable products, conservation of resources, reducing of waste, etc. The role of the green libraries is not only environmental awareness but also in the lifelong learning process.
