Abstract |

Wireless Sensor Networks are collection of number of small and spatially distributed autonomous devices called Sensor Nodes. These nodes are able to sense, can do computations and perform wireless communications but have limited resources available for their operation. Due to this, the routing protocol of wireless sensor network must minimize the energy consumption so as to increase the network lifetime. For this purpose, a number of routing techniques are employed. This paper presents a brief survey on wireless sensor networks. Various types of nodes in the network, their goals, and applications are also discussed. Research ongoing in previous years are also presented in detail. |
