Abstract |
|
When geosynthetics are used in highway embankments they reduce the impact of hazardous earthquakes by transmitting less excitation to improve seismic performance. The main focus of comparison is between unreinforced embankments and reinforced with two levels of geosynthetic materials. Geotextile reinforced highway embankment models performs much better under applied motion and are also more effective when geosynthetics are dominated by seismic frequency. Deamplification is observed within the geotextile reinforced embankment but the degree of deamplification is highly depended on the predominant frequency of the dynamic load. Zone 5 of India which includes Kutch Desert in mainly earthquake prone and thus this testing is done in consideration to that region. |
