In the many applications in special purpose machinery a self-locking drive is desired, conventionally the worm gear drive when made self-locking with the view of safety becomes highly inefficient with drop in output power to 50 to 60% of the input power, self-locking devices using the worm and worm gear drives are still needed to be replaced by another self-locking arrangement which will be more efficient and compact as compared to the earlier conventional system. |
