Energy costs and environmental standards encouraged cement manufacturers world-wide to evaluate to what extent conventional fuels can be replaced by alternative fuels, i.e. processed waste materials. Tyre Derived Fuel (TDF) finds wide application in developed countries as an alternative to coal to fire cement kilns. Adopting this practice can prove beneficial for both cement & tyre companies in India. While TDF promises to lower fuel cost of cement companies by replacing imported coal, it can create adjacent business opportunities. |
