Abstract |

Fixture is an important element in most of the manufacturing processes & related to machining errors; the role of fixtures is very crucial.This project is focused on the development of a fixture to carry out bending operation on the piston cooling nozzles .The existing process involves bending by using two separate fixtures. This is a time consuming process. It reduces the accuracy and increases the Inventory cost. The objective of this project is to develop a single fixture which would carry out both the bends on it. The proposed fixture would provide two bends to the nozzle in one hit only. The design is user friendly and can be easily used by the operator. Thus it will reduce the cycle time of process to half of the time needed in present process. The accuracy will be maintained simultaneously reducing the inventory cost. |
