Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers for women in developed countries including India. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in women. The high occurrence of breast cancer in women has increased significantly in the recent years. This paper investigates a data mining techniques in the detection of breast cancer. The classification performance of Decision Tree and Support Vector Machine are evaluated and compared. Experiments have been conducted on Wisconsin Breast Cancer Dataset and the results of the experiments are evaluated using metrics: Sensitivity, specificity and classification accuracy. The objective of this study is to improve the breast cancer detection with the application of data mining techniques. |
