Abstract |
|
In the realm of digital mental health, mood-journaling applications have gained popularity for their potential to enhance emotional well-being. This paper undergoes a paradigm shift, focusing on the efficacy of mood-journaling apps and the development of a novel web application that addresses identified issues in existing platforms. A systematic evaluation of prevalent mood-journaling applications uncovers shortcomings, including scientifically unproven questions and a neglect of factors such as agency and gratitude. Motivated by these findings, we present the development and assessment of a web application that integrates evidence-based questioning and incorporates dimensions of agency and gratitude. The study draws on a comprehensive methodology involving literature reviews, software surveys, and user-centric assessments. Results demonstrate the positive impact of scientifically grounded questions, highlighting the significance of addressing these factors in fostering improved mental well-being. The conclusion emphasizes the potential of mood-journaling apps and envisions a future where technology contributes substantially to emotional resilience and mental health. This research contributes to the evolving landscape of digital mental health solutions and sets a benchmark for the design and evaluation of mood-journaling applications. |
