Abstract

A major source of energy for our society is the burning of fossil fuels such as coal petroleum and natural gas. These sources are in limited amounts, so scientist and researcher continuous looking for another energy source. They find many renewable resources like biofuel, biodiesel and many others. Biodiesel is a renewable clean burning fuel derived from biological sources. Biodiesel are derived from different vegetables oil, animal fats and algae. Water hyacinth represent a promising source for biodiesel production because of its high availability and high biomass yield. Water hyacinth biodiesel (WHB) is obtained by water hyacinth petioles. By using Soxhlet extraction and transesterification process water hyacinth biodiesel is produced.
