Abstract

Oil-soaked cotton waste, a hazardous byproduct prevalent in automobile industries and workshops, poses a significant challenge in terms of disposal. With its classification as incinerable hazardous waste under the Hazardous Waste (Management, Handling, and Transboundary Movement) Rule of 2008, the safe management of this residue is imperative within solid waste protocols. To address this issue effectively, this study proposes the conversion of oil-soaked cotton waste into pellets, utilizing binders and additives to create a viable fuel alternative. This innovative approach not only mitigates environmental risks associated with traditional disposal methods but also promotes sustainable hazardous waste management practices.
