In this era of sustainable processing and increasing awareness in people about the environment, the use of natural dyes may be the safe alternative of synthetic dyes. For the successful commercial viability of natural dyes it must have wide range of shades as well as applicability to synthetic fibers and their blends. This work is an attempt to study the applicability of selected natural dyes to popular synthetic fiber, nylon. Three natural dyes namely, madder, promognate peel and indigo were applied to nylon fabric using padding technique. Another aim of the work is to expand shades range as natural dyes are always criticized for their availability of bright colours and range of shades. In this work with the use of natural and metallic mordents verity of shades were produced on nylon fabric. The coloured nylon fabric was evaluated in terms of their colour strength value and colour fastness properties using standard techniques of evaluation. |
