One of the primary concerns in ensuring protected control of power system is the presence of low- frequency electromechanical oscillations typically in the range of 0.1- 0.8 Hz. One way to ensure the safe and consistent operation is to damp these oscillations and enhance the dynamic stability of the network. The research in this work is to damp low-frequency oscillations. To ensure secure operations, power system planners have come to depend on FACTS devices to overcome several operational limitations in terms of thermal stability, voltage stability, and other limitations offered by transmission lines. The objective of this work is to employ the complete abilities of FACTS devices to damp out low-frequency oscillations. The objective is proposed in form of control technique i.e., auxiliary self-tuning control strategy that can assist the PI controller to damp power oscillations. |
