Abstract

In biomedical healthcare instrumentation with the rising demand of low voltage and lower consumption circuit architectures. The biomedical signal processing has becomes the major concern, especially in biomedical field, the signal obtained are in the range of few milli-volt. As a result the processing of signal has become the major concern, which posse’s stringent constraint on the performance of ADC. In order to upgrade the ADC performance, a proper selection of architecture associated with comparator is needed. Comparator, the critical building block of ADC considered as power consuming block and severely affects the overall performance of ADC converters. The accuracy of the comparator is determined the performance variables such as offset voltage, power consumption, operation speed, slew rate and noise. In this work I have designed the voltage sensing latch comparator based on regeneration using cross coupling mechanism. The design is implemented in 180nm technology operated at the supply voltage of 0.8V, the parameters obtained after simulation are as follows gain 56.20dB, Slew rate 625V/µsec, Power dissipation 6.13µW, IRN 1.01fV/√Hz and Delay of 0.24ns.
