Abstract |
In modern years, Biodiesel is widely examined by either in straight form or mixing with diesel to unravel the major two problems, exhaustion of fossil fuels and ecological humiliation. The key objective of this investigation is comparing performance & combustion characteristics of biodiesel extracted from non-edible Jatropha seeds in a single cylinder CI engine using IS:10000. Jatropha biodiesel is complexed & it has been found that its characteristics are comparable with diesel fuel. Jatropha biodiesel has been experimented on a diesel engine setup having adjustable compression ratio. The performance parameters, which have been calculated, are brake mean effective pressure, specific fuel consumption, brake thermal efficiency, brake power. Engine has been running at altered engine loads from 20% to 100% by mixing Jatropha & diesel fuel from 0% to 100%. Jatropha blends has low brake specific fuel consumption and high brake thermal efficiency than pure diesel. The results suggest that the Jatropha could be used as alternate fuel to diesel, for specific diesel engine at certain operating condition in nearby future prior to distributed energy production is alarmed. |
