The growth in the demand for urban freight transportation has resulted from the parallel advancement in urbanization and population growth. With the use of the Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) and its ORS plugin features, a model is formulated to determine the essence of time and distance between origins and destinations in a distribution network. The adopted optimization strategy applies the shortest route as the cost-effective way of managing the transport chain in a company and the fastest route suggests the service dependency and reliability since the time factor is of the essence in this strategy. |
