Abstract |
|
Metakaolin is a dehydroxylated form of clay mineral kaolinite. Rocks that are rich in kaolinite are known as china clay or kaolin, traditionally used in the manufacturing of porcelain and effectively used as a replacement for cement in conventional concrete. It highly efficient in increasing the strength without affecting it’s properties in fresh and hardened state. Even though, cement includes metakaolin at manufacturing process, it can be added further to increase the workability, strength and to reduce the cost of cement based concrete property. In this project, the cement is replaced by metakaolin as 0%, 10%, 13.5%, 15%, 17.5%, .M60 grade mix is adopted for concrete. This project covers the workability and strength properties of concrete with metakaolin. Cubes, Cylinders, Prism are cast and cured to conduct compressive strength and split tensile strength on 7 and 28 days. |
